Well, the Brad Fiedel/Terminator: Dark Fate rumor roller-coaster has been up and down, and playing hell with Terminator Fans emotions.
After an edit was made to the official Terminator: Dark Fate IMDb page, stating that Brad Fiedel would be responsible for the composition of the new Terminator movie; fans began to get tentatively (or very) excited, that the man responsible for the heartbeat of the machines, would be returning to score what is cited as the true sequel to Terminator 2: Judgment Day.
We are thankful that this misinformation was quickly debunked, as it would have exploded with negativity in the face of the Terminator franchise if fans had continued to believe that Brad was working on the new Terminator movie only to find out that it wasn’t the case closer to release.
The internet is full of information and misinformation,- and due to the information which was incorrectly put on IMDb about the score for Dark Fate- some anger is being aimed at Brad himself, as some fans are of the belief that Brad is purposefully turning his back on the Terminator franchise and the fans.
We reached out to Brad to find out what the score is…

Were you asked to compose the motion picture score for Terminator: Dark Fate (Terminator 6)?
No. I Never heard from anyone. It actually makes sense to me that a new director would want his own choice and that he would want to give the new composer space without someone else looking over his shoulder. As a composer that’s what I would have appreciated. It’s always complicated to come in on a project with so much history.
I wish them all the very best.
Would you have said yes if Jim had asked you to come back and score Dark Fate?
I really feel that that was so far from possibility, considering how long I’ve been away from all that that I didn’t think about it. This is all so hypothetical… so I’ll get even more hypothetical to answer. I guess that if Jim were actually directing and he asked me- I would have seriously considered.
It saddens us that neither James Cameron nor Tim Miller, gave first refusal to Brad Fiedel but Brad is a good sport and is understanding of the choices made for the movie.
The fact that Brad said he would have “seriously considered” a Terminator Return under different circumstances; fills us with a sense of sadness, hope and happiness at the same time.
So, Brad did not turn down an offer to return, and he would have considered a return if Jim was directing- and let’s face it… that is what the majority of fans wanted anyway…
We asked what Brad’s involvement with The Terminator Live was and Brad told us…
I am consulting with the people producing the Terminator Live project. They have been very receptive to my ideas about the make up of the band. Excited about this and I think they have a great vision for how to do this in a fresh way.
It is great that Avex Classics International has been listening to Brad, and had they not had his input- it wouldn’t be the same. It will make for a better show all round.
As Brad said, we also wish the composer of Terminator: Dark Fate the best of luck with the project and we feel that at least this time there will be an understanding of just how much Brad Fiedel’s musical style has had influence on fans and it is important to recapture that atmosphere this time around.
Since we chatted to Brad, he went on to make a public statement via Facebook to clear up any misunderstandings in the fan-base.
