Danny Elfman To Score “Exciting” Terminator Salvation + Talks Brad Fiedel Theme

Danny Elfman To Score Terminator Salvation

Danny Elfman will be the third composer to score a Terminator movie, following in the footsteps of Brad Fiedel and Marco Beltrami. MTV Movies reports that Danny Elfman has signed on to compose the motion picture score for McG‘s Terminator Salvation, and also managed to speak with him at the Critics Choice Awards to ask him about the fourth Terminator movie AKA T4.

Danny stated that he has seen the movie at a private screening, simply saying:

“Exciting.”

Danny Elfman was also asked if the original Terminator theme will be used for the movie.

“I think if it comes up and it seems appropriate, we will use it, and if it doesn’t, we won’t. I never really know what to expect when I begin other than just kind of get into it and have fun. Especially a movie like “T4″ – just have fun. So that’s what I intend to do.”

The orchestral score for Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines by Marco Beltrami was a solid motion picture score but it just didn’t feel the same as the mechanical synth tones of Brad Fiedel’s score for the first two Terminator movies; ‘The Terminator‘ and ‘Terminator 2: Judgment Day‘.
While fans may have been hoping for the return of Brad Fiedel to score Terminator Salvation, Danny Elfman is one of the best composers Hollywood has to offer and his Batman score still gives us chills today. The fact that he shows a willingness to include compositions by Brad Fiedel also is good to hear, hopefully his score will turn out great.
