Can Linda Hamilton and Jamie Lee Curtis Save the Terminator and Halloween Franchises?

Halloween Terminator

There is no denying that Terminator and Halloween are two franchises that got subsequently worse with each outing and terrible reboots only exacerbated the situation. Now these franchises have a chance to be good again with two leading ladies returning to reclaim their thrones- and rightfully so. Both began as scream queens and now they are here to kick some ass.

Jamie Lee Curtis will return as Laurie Strode this October in a new Halloween (2018); a reboot acting as a sequel to the first movie, ignoring other Halloween sequels and in November 2019 Linda Hamilton will reprise the role of Sarah Connor in what we know as Terminator (2019) a sequel to Terminator 2: Judgment Day.
Hamilton and Curtis are the backbones to their respective franchises and their lack of involvement in subsequent movies has stood out like a sore thumb. Fans are excited to see where the characters are now and what transformations they may have gone through since we last saw them (in the movies which are now established canon in accordance to these reboots).

The requel/retcon/reboot format is now allowing Sarah Connor and Laurie Strode to come back from the dead to attempt to make movies and stories more true to the original source material. While comedy has been mentioned in reference to Terminator (2019); Halloween looks to be following the original formula, aside from that worrying docu-drama nonsense and the hiring of Danny McBride as a writer (which does cause us a little concern).
If Terminator doesn’t follow the original formula then it will just be more shame and stain on the Terminator franchise itself for not listening to fans who want a return to the tone created by James Cameron in 1984.

Linda Hamilton (61 years old) and Jamie Lee Curtis (59 years old) have aged extremely well, are adored by their respective fanbases and still hold love, loyalty and sex appeal for many fans. In a world where Hollywood wanted to cast aside women over the age of 40 while men get a different set of rules,- Linda and Jamie are here to show everyone how it’s done and we don’t want them to stop any time soon either. The hope is that the new Halloween and Terminator movies are successful enough to allow these two strong, talented and beautiful women to come back for sequels (although the majority of Terminator fans are worried that the studios want to kill Linda off in a “torch pass”).

We recently held a poll on TheTerminatorFans.com Facebook and it was revealed that 76% of people who took our poll would be angry if Sarah Connor dies in the new Terminator movie. While the fates of Sarah Connor and Laurie Strode are unknown we feel that fans don’t want these characters to disappear any time soon and, in fact, these actresses are going to make us come back for more just when fans were about to lose interest or walk away in frustration at the shit-fest we have witnessed from the likes of Rob Zombie, Alan Taylor and Jonathan Mostow.

ET has a behind the scenes look at the new Halloween; and Jamie Lee Curtis mentions Linda Hamilton and hopes fans don’t do a side by side comparison….

Jamie Lee Curtis:

Nowadays we have Wonder Women, even Linda Hamilton in Terminator. Your’e gonna see me in a tank top in this movie; I will not have her (Linda’s) arms, just letting you know now. If you think you’re going to do a side by side of me and Linda Hamilton… not gonna happen.

If anyone can save these franchises then Linda Hamilton and Jamie Lee Curtis are the ones who can do it and if they don’t save these franchises it will not be their fault but it will be the fault of everything around them not being good enough to live up to their acting legend status’.
