80s Terminator TV Show That Could Have Happened!

Apparently there was interest to make a Detective TV show featuring Lance Henriksen and Paul Winfield after their chemistry on screen in 1984’s ‘The Terminator’.

Sadly the idea was a comedy cop show and would they have even played the same cops..? Probably not.

Lance Henriksen:

“I remember they wanted to do like a comedy cop show with Paul Winfield and I because we hit it off so well that we were pretty funny, you know it was a nice relief in all of that antagonism in the movie you know”

This was stated by Lance while doing an interview on Australian TV (Mornings with Sonia and David). Personally I think it should have been a Terminator Spin-off with the actors reprising their roles as Traxler (Winfield) and Vuckovich (Henriksen). Would an 80s Terminator TV show have worked with these two characters… ? quite simply yes it could have worked really well and extended the Terminator mythos greatly. It could have been great to see these two characters survive the police station massacre and experience the belief of Kyle and Sarah’s claims; it could have sent them on dark stories while trying to unravel the corruption of Cyberdyne Systems and all while fending off new Terminators and government corruption along the way. If we could have had Linda Hamilton living off the grid and Michael Biehn in occasional one off future war episodes this could have been a cult classic series that extended the world and plot of the original Terminator movie.

This wasn’t really the style of doing things back in the 80s but more a thing of today. I really wish after hearing about the possibility of this nearly happening that it did happen but if it would have been a cheesy, stupid non-terminator related TV Show then maybe it’s a good thing it didn’t happen.
