30 Years of Termination

Terminator T-800

Schwarzenegger thanks fans for supporting Terminator

This was the day back in 1984 when ‘The Terminator’ was unleashed on the public for the first time. The film was made for a budget of roughly 6 million dollars and made lot’s of juicy profit for the studios. However the true success of the movie would come in the form of the VHS/rental release in which the movie’s popularity continued to soar. The movie appealed to both men and women. This movie was cool to like, it had killer robots for the boys and a timeless love story for the girls.

In 1991 demand was high for a 2nd movie it happened and it became one of the most successful sequels and still is, it won awards and broke new ground in the industry of visual effects.

Fans then waited for a third movie but it happened in the wrong time and place with the wrong people in control of the franchise. The movies began to be toned down for a younger audience at this point. A soft R at best and too much comedy for our liking.

Terminator Salvation did a better job but fell fowl with a softer rating leaving the hardcore fans with a movie that felt like a trailer with all the best bits left on the cutting room floor.

Now there’s a new one called Terminator: Genisys in the works, it has a very secretive production. The studios have done a fantastic job on keeping a lid on things but naughty people always leak stuff, is this disgruntled workers or security issues? We have no clue but the movie is set to reset everything but it will go back to those scenes in 1984. It will revisit the original Terminator movies and from what we have seen they are replicating the set and look well but until we see a proper trailer we will leave judgment for then.

James Cameron and Gale Anne Hurd have both teased that they might be interested in reinventing the franchise when the rights revert back to him in 2018/2019. So life seems to be in the franchise for some time to come…

Chiller Terminator Reunion

Just one more thing… can we have more actual Termination in the new movies please…
