William Wisher Terminator 5 & 6 Script Treatments

William Wisher stated that as much as you were shocked that the T-800 in Terminator 2 was good from being a bad Terminator in the first picture, you will be even more shocked at how Arnold will return in the next movies if Hollywood takes on his scripts. So we think HUMAN is likely but also could split the fan base apart. However this could be countered if Arnold appeared in the movie as multiple characters supporting the claim that he comes off a conveyor belt continuously in the future of 2029.

Also Katherine Brewster is a seriously unliked character originally written in to replace Sarah Connor in the script of Terminator 3 after Linda declined to reprise her role from the first 2 movies (Sarah Connor). This had a knock on with Terminator 3 and changed the movie quite drastically. Which is a big shame, the original plot outlines were a lot better sounding.

William Wisher Jr. the co-writer of The Terminator (1984) and Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991) has written script treatments for Terminator 5 & 6 and is currently probably developing/writing these in waiting for a film studio to grab the rights to the Terminator Saga. This will be determined by an auction of the rights. In William Wisher’s original T5 outline Schwarzenegger would come in at the end of the movie and have a full starring role in a 6th theatrical production but this is when the movie would have been made while Arnold was wrapping up being the Governor of California.

The rights are currently owned by Pacificor (more info below). Pacificor is not a movie company but an investment business. They know that the franchise will be worth a hell of a lot of money on the highly anticipated “Schwarzenegger return to Hollywood” subject.

Fans are excited about the return of William Wisher and his scripts, the writers of Terminator 3 and Salvation are not welcomed by fans any longer and the fact that they were allowed to write a fourth movie remains to be an insult. They called Arnold a T-101 in T3? did they even watch the movies? IT is of course CSM-101 (Cyberdyne Systems) if the future had been changed? would CRS (Cyber Research Systems) not replace the CSM? but then in Terminator Salvation CRS has no mention and Cyberdyne Systems is back? It was details like this that infuriated fans. However we would always be willing to get the writers opinions and to talk to them as we believe the wrong people get blamed in the movie making process, especially when those slimy little executives turn up with their briefcases to cut out scenes so little unappreciative brats can go watch it with mom and dad.

Terminator Salvation proved that targeting the franchise at children doesn’t work the way it wants it to, if children bring so much revenue to the franchise then why is it that Playmates Terminator Salvation figures crashed and burned with failed sales and lack of interest causing the second wave to collapse, stores not even selling the toys and then 2 planned lines of T2 and T3 figures to fade into nothing but an embarrassment. In the end a small company in the UK was distributing the John Connor with Bale likeness and the Harvester.

Making an epic movie with stunning action, real physical effects and the music of Brad Fiedel will in the long run earn more money and make this franchise even stronger that it was in 1991. The next movie (T5) really needs to work or else this franchise will be dead. We also need a young hungry director, like James Cameron was in 1984. The Jim Cameron of today is hungry for CGI orientated movies + 3D and if that is what he would turn Terminator into then we have no interest. We need the old Jim the one that hated the over-use of CGI, he used to say It has to be real to feel real, so he would use as much physical practical effects as possible.

Terminator 5 & 6 will however accept 3 and 4 (salvation) into the Terminator mythos. Apparently Sarah Connor and Kyle Reese will be in the next movies in the future again with the explanation that there are alternative time lines and a different destiny for the many faces of John Connor. If Christian Bale was to turn down the role (even though he was contracted to be in 3 movies) then they really had better use an actor who actually appeared in the Saga as Mr Connor, another face change would not be accepted well AT ALL. Christian Bale should still be held under contract unless some loophole is in place since the rights passing between companies.

Fans also demand the series goes back to the roots and more T1 dark realism with no comedy. T2 was borderline to becoming what T3 became and that was a comedy and all the supposed one liners that would become classic are hated. However T2 did find a balance. It is a balance that was just about right but still a million miles away from what Terminator the future-war should really be as opposed to Salvation’s “war movie” pratfall. The story of a world in darkness, terror and death from machines and radiation.

Bill Wisher also wants to bring new Terminator Units to his 2 post apocalyptic Terminator movies… he teased one of them “Night Crawler Units”:

*Night Crawlers will be transformer like robots that hide under the surface of the ground and can leap up and slash you to bits, while connecting with other Night Crawler models if required. *

“For instance, a swarm of Night Crawlers, 4 1/2-foot tall border sentries that are set like mines to spring up out of the ground and ambush rebel fighters with 10 MM pistols built into their wrists and fingers and feet that are razor sharp. Also fresh off the SkyNet assembly line are new shape-shifting cyborgs that can morph together…”

SARAH CONNOR & KYLE REESE POSSIBLY IN WISHER’S T5 & T6 SCRIPTS:

Reelzchannel.com Reported on 19 Feb 2010:

It’s been a wild couple weeks for the Terminator franchise. A week ago, hedge fund Pacificor purchased the rights to the Terminator franchise through an auction, clearly finding the franchise worthy of further sequels. Days later, The Terminator and Terminator 2: Judgement Day co-writer William Wisher complied with ideas for two more sequels.

According to Deadline Hollywood, Wisher has written a 24-page treatment for a fifth and sixth Terminator, which would include elements of Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines and Terminator Salvation, while concentrating on characters Kyle Reese and Sarah Connor, (played by Michael Biehn and Linda Hamilton in the original) in a post-apocalyptic battleground in a story that would involve time travel. The sixth movie would include an appearance by Arnold Schwarzenegger in a role with a surprising twist, and both sequels would include new villains such as “night crawlers” which jump out of the dirt to attack.
