Aswell as being somewhat of a prequel to Terminator Salvation we are introduced to one new character, THE GHOST(Laz). We see how this character has an impact later on, about half way through the Salvation movie. Blair Williams character gets more development in the Machinima Series than the movie and it is such a shame that the moivie does not connect to the Machinima in any way, it would have been nice to hear a throwback to the Machinima series like "oh we got this frequency from the man they call The Ghost"... No such luck.
Here are the 2 main players in the Machinima series:
In Terminator Salvation it appeared as though Blair Williams Character got lost in the whole editing of the movie. In the movie it ended up that she was just a prop... She is the introduction tool for Marcus to meet Connor and is also used to help him escape, SO MARCUS IN & OUT. The character was hyped up to be the new Sarah Connor but those boots are very hard to fill. Moon Bloodgood did a fantastic job though and was given a bad portion at thanksgiving.
Then there was Machinima: Like Titan's novels were used to boost up the story surrounding the movie (at the request of The Halcyon Co) You see these guys knew they messed up the story so bad that they used book and the machinima series to flesh the whole thing out for us fans, so if you read the books... play the game and watch the movie/ machinima you will feel so much more dragged in and feel like you have bonded with the characters some more... "It doesn't vurk that vay"... A company like Titan pulled it off, Machinima gave us two new things... Blair and an enhanced story... but we say it doesn't work because it makes you think... well if we take the best of the books and the machinima and mix it up with a game it will make our movie seem better. It has the opposite effect, it makes the movie feel even more shallow.
Moon Bloodgood being the professional she is came into this knowing this is make or break for her character and she played it well. Her voice acting in this is the best thing about machinima she manages to give the scripted dialogue a sence of conviction. You feel who her character is more than you do in the film. Machinima gives Blair heart and courage. It shows she has a sense of care and a belief in others and their ability to do good things to stop the machines. Just like in the movie... Blair in the Machinima Series, defies orders and lies to command but for reasons she believes in. In the machinima her heart puts her in the wrong decision as in turn she is responsible for allowing Skynet's plan in the movie to come to fruition. However second time round she made a good decision in helping Marcus but maybe for two reasons, afterall she did want a hydrolic session with the guy ; )
Laz Howard "The Ghost" (Victor Kubicek/Cam Clarke) is 6ft tall, caucasion, with long hair and is a hacker.
Laz's past isn't completely clear, who and what he was before Judgment Day isn't really known, the only concrete fact is that he is a hacker. But even this is somewhat sketchy as he is the reason the Resistance gets the signal in the first place, which could be some kind of horrible fluke or... something more sinister.
If you've read the books, seen the films, played the games then maybe you've heard of the human collaborators to SkyNet... ? These people will do whatever they need to, to evade the wrath of the machines. Maybe even become the Trojan horse which brings down the Resistance from the inside with a nice little gift.
Though Laz seems selfish and cowardly when the series begins, come the end of it he has become a hero. Saving innocents and helping Blair get the means to deactivate SkyNet (if that was his true intention).
Victor Kubicek whose likeness was used for Laz, is chairman of the Halcyon company. Strangely he reminds me of the lab technician from Metal Gear Solid. There's a weird segue if ever there was one...
Cam Clarke who voiced Laz Howard in the series also voiced Liquid Snake in Metal Gear Solid. Other voice acting work for this talented dude includes;
"leonardo" and "rocksteady" in the THE TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES.
"die feidermaus" on THE TICK.
"mac" on CLIFFORD, THE BIG RED DOG.
"he-man" and "prince adam" on HE-MAN AND THE MASTER OF THE UNIVERSE.
"max" and "lancer" ROBOTECH.
