These figures were released to conincide with the release of Terminator Salvation in 2009. This figure line if it had been more successful was heading for more toys, expanding furthur into the terminator universe. Playmates were seeking rights to use Arnold's likeness from the other movies but due to lack of popularity of the figure line these plans seem to be cancelled. A John Connor figure with Bales likeness was released but it was too late to bring people back.
Playmates tried to re-create the magic of the T2 Kenner series back in 1991 which then spanned into a future war range of toy's (branded by laser scan) and then got a burst of life when the T2:3D ride came out.
Playmates just did not seem to do this right. Most people would blame how the films mixed reviews obviously impacted on the movie's merchandise. T2 was a movie you could market well with toys. Salvation was a confusion. Terminator Salvation took a turn into a summer action movie and not into the real aspect. Sci-Fi.... Playmates did a good job to what they were dealing with a gamble. We would definitley love to see Playmates come back and have a better movie to work with. Salvation wasn't a bad movie. IT was a film full of lies, promises and no character development. Afterall to buy the figure you have to admire the character or Terminator. Not enough Terminators and not enough passion.
I received this a little while ago, when I asked Playmates if they would like to get in touch with our large Christmas contest. It seems as though Playmates and Terminator Salvation was a failure. (which we have known for a while). They didn't get involved in the contest at all and here's the email I received as a closing statement on 08 December 2009 19:00.
Thank you for contacting Playmates Toys, we have stopped developing and manufacturing toys based on the Terminator Salvation movie due to a lack of retailer support for Fall 2009. I am so sorry for any inconveniences this may have cause you.

An abrupt end... Terminated!
However without any real knowledge to the public companies from the UK started taking on the products. Meaning wave 2 got to see the light of day to the people that really wanted the toys. Also the playset that appeared as a blank button on the website surfaced. The question is why did they bring the best figures out last?
Wave 2 Cyber Skin Regenerator- Rip off of the Kenner T2- Bio Flesh Regenerator:
We saw this in the movie, but the scenes that gave it meaning were cut. This product was not promoted properly or released until the demise of the Terminator Salvation range. Support this site by buying the Cyber Skin Regenerator below:

Wave 2 never really went global. Apparently you can buy these toys somewhere we are looking into it for you. At the end of the day Terminator is NOT a kids movie and hopefully the studio will get the message this time. T2 was a 15 and the image alone sold. Kids did not need to see the movie to enjoy the toys.
