In the barely-remembered time before the Terminators, the life of a young woman key to humanity's survival depends on the actions of Kyle Reese in present-day 2029. But Kyle may not live long enough to help Sarah Conner if he and his companions Ben and Paige can't escape Skynet's terrifying new weapon-Terminators that look just like people!
Guided by information about a hidden Cyberdyne facility, the three friends must brave T-800s, HKs, rogue resistance gangs, and other threats in their search for any advantage against the machines. What they can't anticipate is the nature of the incredible resource hidden within the facility's walls!
* Written by rising star Zack Whedon (Dr. Horrible, Fringe, Deadwood)!
* Terminator and Terminator 2 are on the AFI's list of the 100 Most Heart-Pounding American Movies!

SPOILER WARNING...
We pick up where we left off; with the refugees abandoning the bus to go on foot in search of a safe haven.
The artwork on the t-800s is striking, the metal soldiers of death thunder along with their death's head grin soldered firmly in place and emanating menace (maybe the next director should take note... ?)
... Ben, Paige, Kyle and the refugees flee from the encroaching staccato footsteps of SkyNet's deadly enforcers to be rescued by the remaining members of "Yankee Company",- trigger-happy though they may be.
Paige - a character I've still not connected with (making me wonder what point, the introduction of new characters, actually has in a franchise which already has an established storyline and roles) is pulled from the back of a moving army transport vehicle, which sets the scene for a rather impromptu fight with a determind endoskeleton and which bothered me so much that I had to restrain myself from attempting to validate the possibilities of a somewhat implausible act (Ben doesn't look capable even with that pair of shiny red pliars... ).

Then there's the ominous Red... the leader of afore mentioned "Yankee Company",- all of whom have essentially become mercenaries out for blood and victory, (not necessarily in that order) and are on a decidedly hairbrained jaunt to go a'huntin' for Terminators- wih the addition of yet another "romantic" interlude by Paige and Ben (in my opinion they need to knock boots and have done with it!).
"Come with me if you want to live" Kyle Reese says to er, Kyle Reese and draws a dry racking hiss from my lungs in exasperation. That iconic sentence is fast becoming its own joke, thrown into the mix to create a glimmer of recognition within fans past and present but sadly fails to deliver and only manages to cause a feeling of cliched tackiness which, quite frankly Terminator doesn't need.
Note to future writers: Terminator should rekindle not rehash.
The artwork in this edition is awesome, as always Andy MacDonald and Dan Jackson do a great job which is detailed and bang on perfect, even the clinche between Paige and Ben (argh) is beautifully drawn and inked. The colours are vibrant and bold, the differing hues of light and dark skillfully administered and well executed, I haven't got a bad thing to say about the art of The Terminator: 2029 issue: 2.

The writing...
As I have previously stated,- I don't appreciate the introduction of new characters in Terminator (whatever form it may take) unless used correctly, there is little point in writing new roles for an established story if they aren't written properly. New characters should not be taken lightly my friends, yes,- it's Paige and Ben again! As a reader and a fan I simply do not connect with either of the two, even to go so far as to say that I feel syruped to death each and every time they share a scene.
Kyle doesn't sit right with me either; here he's portrayed as almost too good, too eager. T1 gives us a far more complex man. Someone who's been on the edge so long that he finds it hard just to interact with other people.
This comic, though visually perfect, leaves me cold. Maybe I missed the point... Maybe my mind is too fixed on a fond memory...
suffice to say... I'm not ready to commit quite yet.
